About Sterling Infosystems, Inc.
Sterling began as a polygraph examinations company in 1975, but in the 80s, regulatory changes forced Sterling to innovate and evolve into an employment screening systems company. With vision and a commitment to technology, Founder and CEO, William Greenblatt guided the business to where it is today as a world-wide provider of criminal background checks, previous employment verification, educational credential verification, and drug testing. Among its recent acquisitions is Bishop Services, the country’s oldest privately held investigations and corporate due diligence firm, Abso Inc., American Background Information Services/Asperion Screening, Tandem Select and Acxiom/AISS, leaders in background screening technology and client service and Backcheck, the Canadian leader in pre-employment screening services.
In 2007, Sterling Infosystems, Inc. received a number of prestigious honors, including being named by Deloitte & Touche LLP as one of the 500 fastest growing technology companies in North America and one of the 50 fastest growing technology companies in the New York area. Sterling was also designated on the Inc. 5000 fastest-growing private companies in America list for 3 years. (2007, 2008, 2011)
The company has also been honored for major technological advancements. InfoWorld® Magazine made Sterling Infosystems, Inc. one of the top 10 of their “100 Best IT Projects of 2007”. The company was selected for work in creating SOA (service-oriented architecture) through business process management software and rules engine technology, a process that allows for the most highly configurable, customer-specific solutions in the marketplace.
For almost four decades, Sterling has been the leader in industry innovations. To enhance their full suite of compliant, global background screening products and services, in 2007, Sterling introduced Court Direct SM, proprietary technology that directly accesses court records and reduces clear criminal record check turnaround time to less than 4 hours. In addition, they recently launched Employee Incarceration Alerts, the only product in the industry to provide criminal activity alerts, giving you real time access to arrest data, before it shows up in court records.
