Influential technology columnist speaking Sept. 6 at Georgia Tech Research Institute

ATLANTA, Aug. 10, 2012 – MIT Enterprise Forum of Atlanta will host “Walt Mossberg: Live and Unplugged,” at its next meeting on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. Mossberg will share his opinions and insight on a number of technology topics including cloud computing’s impact on consumers, the future of hardware and the convergence of telecom, wireless and the web.

Mossberg will make suggestions on how to break through in today’s increasingly noisy technology market and offer up his views on how The Gang of Four (Apple, Amazon, Google and Facebook) are driving, or not driving, today’s technology agenda.

A question and answer session with Mossberg, moderated by Ann Revell-Pechar, vice president at Arketi Group, will follow his presentation. The event starts at 6 p.m. and is open to all. For more information and to register, visit www.mitefa.org.

“Attracting technology thought leaders such as Mossberg to Atlanta is a clear example of the growing national importance of Georgia’s technology community,” said Chris Stanley, chair of MIT Enterprise Forum of Atlanta. “This event will give the state’s more than 13,000 tech and tech-enabled companies a rare chance to hear from someone who ranks among the nation’s most influential technology journalists. We encourage the entire technology community to come out and take advantage of this unique opportunity.”

Walt Mossberg is the renowned author of the weekly technology column, Mossberg’s Mailbox, which has appeared every Thursday on The Wall Street Journal since 1991. Mossberg has received a number of awards including the Loeb award for Commentary, the World Technology Award for Media and Journalism and has interviewed top technology leaders such as Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. In partnership with prominent blogger and author Kara Swisher, Mossberg is also co-creator of the technology industry's most prestigious annual conference, D: All Things Digital, and is the co-executive editor of the technology web site, allthingsd.com.

“Technology executives and entrepreneurs, as well as Atlanta’s large public relations community, are expected to make this yet another standing room only MIT Enterprise Forum of Atlanta,” said Sami Jajeh, principal of Arketi Group, a high-tech business-to-business public relations and digital marketing firm and the event sponsor. “Mossberg’s opinions on technology are among the most sought after and can propel a company to instant fame – or shame.”

Event networking will begin at 6 p.m. and will include a Start Up Alley comprised of early stage Georgia technology companies selected through the Forum’s Run It By The Pros program and sponsors. This will be followed by Mossberg’s presentation at 7 p.m. The event cost is $25 for Forum members and members of event partner organizations, and $35 for non-members.

Event partners include Association of Telecom Professionals, Georgia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, Metro Atlanta Chamber, Technology Association of Georgia and Wireless Technology Forum.

This live event will be held at the Georgia Tech Research Institute at 250 14th Street NE., Atlanta, GA, 30318. Parking is free. For more information or to register for the event, visit www.mitefa.org.
