HEALTH IT FINALISTS NAMED FOR INTEL INNOVATION AWARD
Winner to be Announced at Health IT Leadership Summit on November 8
ATLANTA, October 17, 2011 – Four finalists have been named for the Intel Innovation Award, a part of the 2011 Health IT Leadership Summit that will take place on November 8, 2011. Presented for the first time this year, the Intel Innovation Award recognizes companies developing leading-edge technology to improve healthcare delivery and processes.
The winner will be announced at the Summit. The four finalists are:
AirStrip Technologies, Inc.
Premier Anesthesia
Georgia Tech/Gwinnett Tech
SoloHealth®
“It was a very tough decision for the judges,” said Pat Williams, chairwoman for the 2011 Summit. “We received 26 entries, and the Innovation Committee whittled that down to 11 semifinalists. The blue chip panel of six judges looked at each of the semifinalists to decide how unique and impactful the applicant’s solution was in regards to the challenges facing our health delivery process.”
The inaugural Intel Innovation Award recognizes companies showing exceptional innovation, which is one of the key pillars necessary for a thriving health IT cluster, explains Glen Whitley of the Georgia Department of Economic Development. “Georgia’s core strengths in education, software and information technology provide the resources needed for health IT companies to innovate and grow, and have been a major reason for our critical mass in this sector,” said Whitley.
The Summit ranks as one of the nation’s premier health IT events and was founded in 2010 by the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Metro Atlanta Chamber and Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) Health. More than 111 leading health IT companies participated and over 500 people attended the first event, which highlighted Georgia's leadership in the industry and addressed the actions needed to build and sustain a premier health IT workforce and build a robust health IT cluster. Attendance for the second annual Summit is expected to top 500 people.
The Health IT Leadership Summit runs from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on November 8, 2011 at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. Additional information and registration:
