Technology Association of Georgia Announces Media Industry Titan
Bert Ellis to Speak at 2010 Georgia Technology Summit

ATLANTA (March 11, 2010) – The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) has today announced that U. Bertram (Bert) Ellis, Jr., president and CEO of Ellis Communications which owns KDOC-TV in Los Angeles and KAME-TV in Reno, Nev. and is an investment vehicle for media and entertainment companies, will speak at the 2010 Georgia Technology Summit.

The Georgia Technology Summit is one of TAG’s premier annual events and is expected to gather more than 1,200 technology industry leaders in an annual recognition and celebration of Georgia’s technology industry. The event, held March 24, 2010 at the Cobb Galleria Centre, will feature Ellis along with keynote speaker Thomas Koulopoulos, founder of Delphi Group and one of the technology industry’s most influential information management consultants, and Carlos Dominguez, senior vice president in Cisco’s Office of the Chairman of the Board and CEO as speakers.

In addition to the impressive speaker line-up, Georgia’s Top 10 and Top 40 most innovative companies will be recognized at the event, and Ken Byers will be into the Georgia Technology Hall of Fame.

The 2010 Georgia Technology Summit reinforces the significance of innovation in Georgia and recognizes local leadership in technology. This year’s event, themed “Innovation: Economic Transformation” will address how innovation will act as the catalyst to jump-start the economic recovery in Georgia and around the world.

“Bert has his arms around so many different cutting edge technologies, so we are certain that he will be the perfect speaker to talk about our changing world,” said Tino Mantella, president of TAG. “It’s instinct like his that will allow Georgia’s technology community to develop the companies that will drive innovation during the next decade.”

Ellis is a partner in Ellis, McQuary, Stanley & Associates, a private equity investment and consulting firm based in Atlanta, and has been an active entrepreneur in the media and technology industries during the past 25 years, having founded and operated numerous private and public companies. Ellis primarily managed acquisitions, strategic relationships and fund raising for his companies but was also integrally involved in programming, sales and operations, engineering, and capital expenditures.

Ellis most recently served as the vice chairman and a director of Scient, Inc., which was formed by the November 2001 merger of Scient Corp. and iXL Enterprises. Ellis founded iXL in 1996 and served as its chairman until the merger with Scient. The combined companies provided Internet integration services for Fortune 500 companies and grew its market cap to $6 billion. Ellis also founded and served as president, CEO and COO of Act III Broadcasting, a broadcast group comprised of eight Fox-affiliate television stations, which was sold to Sullivan Broadcasting in 1995 for $530 million.
