I went to the TAG Entertainment meeting on 3D last night just because I was interested in what 3D is and where it is going. My first and only 3D experience was watching “Avatar” in the theater. As with all TAG meetings, it was a great presentation.
There were three presenters with Richard Warner of GPB fame as the moderator. The presenters were a scientist, marketer, and new PHD who creates 3D views of historical cities from photographs. At the end of a truly fascinating hour I’d learned from our scientist why 3D works and how it goes back to our days in the Seregeti and the development of our “fight and flight” defense mechanism. From our marketer I learned about the ups add downs of 3D over the last century and why this time we might be hitting critical mass.
It was a absorbing evening at the Defoor Centre with the best hors d'oeuvres so far. TAG is great for networking and keeping the pulse on your business area of interest. But a real perk is having the chance to get out of your comfort zone and find out about something totally new.
