TAG Societies

The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) is, at its essence, an umbrella organization for a large variety of smaller groups, or "Societies," which TAG divides into three categories: People, Function, and Industry. Each Society is represented by their own board or directors, sponsors, and hosts their own regular events. The Society pages on TAGthink are where the people involved in these groups connect and share in-depth information on a daily basis.

Please join the TAG Smart Energy Society for the fifth event in its 2012 program series, “emPOWERing Georgia’s Growth:  The Role of Electric Utilities in Economic Development” at the Georgia Resource Center in Midtown. Energy is economic oxygen. With abundant, reliable, affordable, and sustainably managed sources of electricity, and other energy, history shows economic opportunities become realities. That’s why electric utilities are catalysts for growth that fuel economic activity for business and government and improve quality of life for residents.

During this session, we will learn how Georgia’s electricity infrastructure drives competitive advantage for its businesses. Four experts from Georgia’s government, utility, and consulting sectors will explain the site selection, engineering, and research assistance provided through the collaboration of our electricity providers and state economic development agencies. Don’t miss this opportunity to see the latest tools, technologies, and ideas driving our collective efforts to unlock the power to keep Georgia growing.

The session will feature the following panelists:

  • Walt Farrell, Senior Business Developer, Electric Cities of Georgia
  • Charles Stallworth, Senior Project Manager,  Georgia Power Company
  • Jeff Pratt, President, Green Power EMC

David Dunagan of the Georgia Department of Economic Development will moderate the panel discussion.

The panel discussion will begin at noon and run until 1:15 PM, followed by 15 minutes of Q&A. Lunch will be served at 11:30 AM in the Hodges Room.
